The Work
Unsung Heroes

By day, Officer Dada wears the uniform of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, serving her community with vigilance, compassion, and courage. Her work extends beyond directing traffic and maintaining order; it includes mentoring schoolchildren, responding to emergencies, supporting survivors of domestic violence, and helping resolve conflicts before they escalate. She believes that true security begins with being present for people.
When the day's shift ends, another journey begins. She returns to her business, Fungold Hair Academy, where she trains aspiring wig makers and encourages women to become financially independent. For Officer Dada, service and entrepreneurship are not separate identities and they are two expressions of the same purpose: empowering others while building a better future for herself and her family.
Through these portraits, Unsung Heroes reveals the person behind the uniform: a woman whose impact reaches far beyond the roads she helps keep safe.
